Sunday ramblings

This week we had to travel to Huntington to take care of some things for LeAnn and Justin so I missed Sunday School but I do have notes of a recent sermon titled Knowing God. The mature Christian is informed, they know God's word because they have it etched in their heart, they know the facts and will not be deceived. When you struggle( and you will struggle in life) you can get bitter or better. When your faith is tested you can grow stronger through these trials, just keep your focus on the Light( Jesus). Spiritual maturity is marked by your diet; you will either be drinking milk and eating meat. The young in Christ( drinking milk) will not have a full understanding of the Word but as they grow ( read the Bible, Pray, Study the Word, have a mature Christian walk beside you, seek a deeper understanding) the Holy Spirit will reveal to them a deeper understanding ( the meat). Spiritual maturity is marked by deeds or duty ( have a servants heart and act as a servant do not see your actions as duty) God wants us to have a servants heart, willing and joyful. If things don't seem to be going just like we want them to, then ask am I in the Will of God? God will reveal everything to us as we need to know, we need to stay focused and remember God does not move, if you do not feel close to God, it is you that moved away. We need to remember the four W's , Word of God, Will of God, Worship God and Work forGod. I look forward to your thoughts. With love and prayer, Edith

Sunday School Lesson- Parable

We have been studying in the book of Matthew and today's lesson was the parable of the Sower and the seed. Factors that restrict growth. Look up Matthew 13:1-8 The crowds were enthralled with the stories that Jesus told and would flock to him to hear the stories, and sometimes it was to be healed ( they had heard of the miracles) but they didn't fully understand the power of the man speaking. Jesus told simple stories and used examples of things the crowds
could relate to. Today's lesson is the Sower of the seed. The Sower was Christ and the Seed was the Word of God planted in the hearts of the people. The soil they are talking about is the condition of your heart. Hard soil is like a hardened heart, they have heard the Word but before it has a chance to grow and understanding develops, Satan ( the birds came and ate it up) takes the growth away. Rocky soil is like a person who gladly accepts the Word but when difficult times come, they do not have a deep rooted faith and understanding so they do not survive. The seed springs up quickly but withers because they are not deep rooted. Then we have good soil that is not well prepared and is weed infested, they receive the Word and begins to grow but before the harvest comes their spiritual life becomes choked out with worry and worldly concerns. Then we have the good soil that is well prepared ( a person that goes to church, studies in a Bible study group, Sunday school, listens to christian music, desires to study the Word) that seed will sprout, grow and produce a crop that is 100 times what was sown. We never know when we plant a seed of faith how many times it will reseed and produce many many crops. Seeds will die and under the right conditions ( food- the Bible -- Light- the Son of God) will have rebirth and grow and again produce a crop. So, go plant a Seed- a person's heart that is truly open and has a desire to know God will take deep roots and produce a bountiful crop. I hope you enjoyed this lesson as much as I did. We are so blessed with the best Sunday School teacher. With love and prayer, Edith

I miss her so much and I love her more today than ever. Thank you Grannie for being my biggest supporter and for believing in me. Love, Edith Ann

HAPPY NEW YEAR- 2009

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all, I hope you are feeling good today and not hung over. If you are get something sweet that will put your brain back in tune. Me and Chelsea are here at home having quiet time while the boys are flying their airplane at The Frozen Finger Fly-in. It is only 24 degrees today so I bet their fingers are frozen but I sent Vegetable soup and Oatmeal cookies for them to eat so they would have fuel to burn. The sun is out and the sky is blue with lots of clouds but it is cold. Grannie Edith used to say the first 12 days of the year is the weather we will have each month, so with that we should have a cold January with bright clear days. We had lots of wind yesterday and our neighbor lost a big pine tree in his back yard so they are cleaning that up today.
I have made my New Year's resolution to get organized, every thing has a place and every thing will be kept in it's place...... I hope I am successful, and I hope you are successful with your resolution too. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.
