We have been studying in the book of Matthew and today's lesson was the parable of the Sower and the seed. Factors that restrict growth. Look up Matthew 13:1-8 The crowds were enthralled with the stories that Jesus told and would flock to him to hear the stories, and sometimes it was to be healed ( they had heard of the miracles) but they didn't fully understand the power of the man speaking. Jesus told simple stories and used examples of things the crowds
could relate to. Today's lesson is the Sower of the seed. The Sower was Christ and the Seed was the Word of God planted in the hearts of the people. The soil they are talking about is the condition of your heart. Hard soil is like a hardened heart, they have heard the Word but before it has a chance to grow and understanding develops, Satan ( the birds came and ate it up) takes the growth away. Rocky soil is like a person who gladly accepts the Word but when difficult times come, they do not have a deep rooted faith and understanding so they do not survive. The seed springs up quickly but withers because they are not deep rooted. Then we have good soil that is not well prepared and is weed infested, they receive the Word and begins to grow but before the harvest comes their spiritual life becomes choked out with worry and worldly concerns. Then we have the good soil that is well prepared ( a person that goes to church, studies in a Bible study group, Sunday school, listens to christian music, desires to study the Word) that seed will sprout, grow and produce a crop that is 100 times what was sown. We never know when we plant a seed of faith how many times it will reseed and produce many many crops. Seeds will die and under the right conditions ( food- the Bible -- Light- the Son of God) will have rebirth and grow and again produce a crop. So, go plant a Seed- a person's heart that is truly open and has a desire to know God will take deep roots and produce a bountiful crop. I hope you enjoyed this lesson as much as I did. We are so blessed with the best Sunday School teacher. With love and prayer, Edith

I agree with what the sunday school teacher said. But sometimes the sower (which would the minister) is not fully prepared to help till and nuture the garden sometimes when new christians have questions they can't help them at all so the new christian becomes discouraged and give up they do not understand they can get the answers through prayer and reading gods word they want a quick fix and someone to tell them what to do. thanks for sharing your sunday school lesson

The lesson was very enlighting so many times in our lives we let the things of this life come before serving, and seeking God. I for one neglect to read my bible, and speaking up for the Lord. I think that fear of what others might think of us holds a lot of people back from standing boldly for the Lord. I'm ashamed of myself for this flaw in my character. Please pray for me that I will over come this, and become more bolder, and prouder of my walk with the Lord. Thanks Edie for sharing this with us all it was truely, and eye opener for me.
How amazing the Lord is...this was my lesson to teach K-2grade Sunday and without my knowing it, Chris was teaching the same thing to the adults. So here three lessons on the same day teaching the same truths. WOW!!
